The August Beauty, Gardenia jasminoides ' August Beauty', has fragrant white 2-3 inch blooms that adorn this glossy, dark green shrub. Flowers for up to 3 months. Makes a superior, fragrant informal hedge. Plant in moist soil with good drainage. Fertilize regularly with an acid fertilizer. Water weekly- more often when temperatures reach above 80 degrees. Prune to shape only in late fall.
