Formosa belongs to the Azalea grouping known as Southern Indica Hybrids selected for their vigorous growth habits and sun tolerance and are a very hardy landscape plant.This evergreen shrub is the herald of spring in Southern landscapes when it becomes blanketed by three-inch-diameter, funnel-shaped, deep-magenta blooms. Grows into a large, upright bush if unpruned.
